The Soils Gaze - Chris Jehly

Description: Chris Jehly’s solo exhibition at Tyger Tyger Gallery of plein-air watercolor landscapes, The Soil’s Gaze, unveils the artist’s serendipitous moments painting outdoors where nothing ever stands completely still. Sunbeams cut through descending fog, breezes move through undulating mountain foliage, and fallen trees nestle deeper into the damp earth. Within these constantly shifting spaces, Jehly makes quick decisions, building kaleidoscopic images dense with color-shifting ribbons of light and form. Whether hiking to secluded destinations in the Blue Ridge Mountains or painting the view from his grandmother’s front yard, Jehly remains present and curious, letting his environment guide his painting process. “Plein-air painting is about being vulnerable physically, mentally, and creatively,” Jehly says. “My approach is both reckless and ephemeral, fueling spontaneity and mark-making that would otherwise be overly edited.”

"Peace is Radical" features works addressing a range of topics, including creative empowerment, the importance of democracy, race and gender equality, environmental justice, and, of course, peace and harmony. Almost all of these art pieces utilize screen printing. This versatile graphic medium can be used to produce high-end art or multitudes of prints that can be disseminated liberally. Fairey uses screen printing in both ways and finds it to be an incredibly empowering and democratic medium. Description: The Street of Styles Festival is one of Latin America’s largest Urban Art events, focusing on Graffiti is an event that unites the most different forms of urban artistic expressions existing around the world through Street Art, Shows, Radical Sports, and Street Dancing. In this edition 400 artists from 43 countries and 26 states of Brazil will create a traveling gallery with + 2km of open-air urban art, in this new format the festival goes out of the walls to urban canvases, thought and built especially in order to expand circulation from where the urban artwork can come along.
In this new format, the Festival in partnership with the Curitiba Youth Week carries out activities that extrapolate graffiti, bringing "Youth Talent Stage" that aims at the opportunity for the youth of the city to present themselves in their most diverse forms of expression. Original Skate Circuit brings on the traditional "Meno" track competition in 6 categories from mirin to master.
Youth Fair is a service fair with 250m2, developed by JUVENTUDE DE CURITIBA IN ACTION and a space that unites different actions for the sake of Youth protagonism, with a focus on the performance as an agent of transformation of the protagonist for their own story.

バリー・マッギー (BARRY MCGEE)はサンフランシスコを拠点として活動する現代アーティストであり、TwistやLydia、Fongの名前でもその活動を知られてきました。自身が生まれ育ったサンフランシスコの風景やストリートアートの文化を取り入れ、壁画、インスタレーション、彫刻、ドローイング、写真など多様な技法でカラフルに独自の世界観を表現するのが特徴です。
マッギーは自身の作品を通じて社会階層や消費文化など社会の課題を表現し、これまでにヴェネチアビエンナーレ、プラダ財団、ボストン現代美術館、バークレー美術館、ワタリウム、あいちトリエンナーレなど、数多くの美術館、展覧会で観客にメッセージを伝えてきました。
今回の展示タイトルである「OLDE IFFY」。
OLDEはOLDの古風な書き方であり、昔から愛され続けているもの、長く使われているものを大切に考えるマッギーのスタイルが現れています。
IFFYには、何者でもない（存在）である、という意味合いがあります。自分は歳だけとって、まだ何者でもないよ、そんな謙虚さが感じられます。
本展では新作を含め、ペインティングを中心に展示・販売を行うとともに、今回のために製作された特別な映像のインスタレーションも見ることができます。マッギー本人が来日し手掛けた空間を体感いただける貴重な機会となっておりますので、是非ご来場ください。
さらに2月28日（水）からは、本館１階のショーウィンドウをジャック、力強いパターン、哀調を帯びたカリカチュアなど特徴的なモチーフがふんだんに使用された装飾が施され、マッギーならではの世界観を堪能いただけます。Type: Show

Between graffiti video, documentary and mockumentary, Art Inconsequence - Advanced Vandalism is certainly one of the first scene documents to present deviant concepts in illegal graffiti in series. The serial works themselves are also among the first of their kind in historical terms, certainly in the consistency shown. The film and the book of the same name explored and anticipated much of what can still be called avant-garde today, but which itself now represents a small new tradition of more experimental graffiti.
Film undoubtedly has a firm place in the foundation of this subgenre. One or two of the artists shown have taken the liberty of weaving in a lot of little ironic jokes and references. The deeper the viewer gets involved in certain contexts, of which the conventional graffiti scene is just one, the more these become concentrated. The director Robert Kaltenhäuser will once again be with us and will be available for a talk.

Zwischen Graffitivideo, Dokumentation und Mockumentary ist Art Inconsequence – Advanced Vandalism sicher eines der ersten Szenedokumente, das abweichende Konzepte im illegalen Graffiti in Serie darstellt. Auch gehören die seriellen Werke selbst darin historisch wohl mit zu den ersten ihrer Art, sicherlich in der gezeigten Konsequenz. Der Film und das gleichnamige Buch hat vieles ausgelotet und vorweggenommen, was heute zwar noch immer avantgardistisch genannt werden kann, aber inzwischen selbst eine kleine neue Tradition von experimentellerem Graffiti darstellt.
Im Fundament dieses Subgenres hat der Film unzweifelhaft seinen festen Platz. Der ein oder andere gezeigte Künstler haben sich erlaubt, eine Menge kleiner ironischer Spässe und Hinweise einzuflechten. Diese verdichten sich umso mehr, je tiefer der Zuschauer in bestimmte Zusammenhänge verstrickt ist, von denen die herkömmliche Graffitiszene nur einer ist.
